Source: Russia’s grain export quota may amount to 14 mln tns

MOSCOW, Dec 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s grain export quota may amount to 14 million tonnes in the first half of 2022, including a 9 million tonne wheat quota, a source familiar with the discussions told PRIME late on December 3.

When asked about the possible estimate of 14 million tonnes for grain and 9 million tonnes for wheat, the source said, “Yes … (these estimates) are sensible at first glance.”

Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev said in early November that the government plans to introduce a grain export quota, including a quota for wheat, in the first half of 2022 to ensure supplies on the internal market. Chairman of the Board of the Russian Union of Grain Exporters Eduard Zernin said then that the government would not introduce the quota earlier than in mid-February 2022.

In 2021, Russia had a 17.5 million tonne export quota for wheat, rye, and barley from February 15 through June 30.
